Jan Marie Buchanan
Woman Charged with Day Care Drowning
There were 13 children in this woman's day care and she failed to lock the door properly and a child escaped out and drowned in her pool.
This happened in Jacksonville recently and that's very scary cause that could have been my little brother.
God Bless this boy's family and friends, this is very sad.

A Jacksonville man who took part in a cycling competition on Lookout Mountain in Tennessee has died. Chattanooga police said 49-year-old Antonio Ribeiro was riding downhill in an area where he had to make sharp left and right turns close together. Ribeiro had lost control and went into the path of a car traveling uphill, spokesman Nathan Hartwig said. According to the Chattanooga Free Press, Ribeiro died at the scene.
This is really sad for the whole community and God Bless his family and loved ones!

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office says they collected a total of 25 kilograms of packaged cocaine on Friday that had washed up on beaches from Ponte Vedra south to Crescent Beach. Deputies showed off the cocaine Monday, saying the street value of the drugs would equal $7.5 million.  Drug agents say the cocaine was intended for somewhere along the coast of Florida, but it ended up in the ocean.
"There is a drug dealer of some level who is very unhappy," said SJCSO Cmdr. Chuck Mulligan. "He's lost really a great deal of value in the cocaine." The Sheriff's Office confirmed the bags contained cocaine. St. Johns County beaches, which were closed anyway Friday due to nor'easter conditions, were kept closed as deputies collected the bundles and placed them into evidence.

Woman fights off robbers

A Westside woman robbed in a Westside parking early Sunday morning says she thought she was going to die. The woman says the men slit her throat and took her wallet, but she fought back using pepper spray. Fortunately, the two robbers were only armed with a butter knife, so her injuries were not severe.
"I thought they were going to cut my head off," said the woman whose name is not being used because the robbers are still on the loose. She said she was headed through a strip-mall parking lot toward the Krystal's drive-through on 103rd Street when two men blocked her car. One of them ran over to open her door.
"I'm trying to pull the door back. He jerked it really hard and I went out the door and fell right there at his leg," she told Channel 4's Jim Piggott. "I looked up at him to get a picture of his face and I had my pepper spray on me, and as I looked up, that is when I had my throat slit from ear to ear. And I was scared as anything, but I was able to pepper spray him." One of them grabbed her wallet, but they ran off.

CE #3b Mississippi Man Arrested for Sending Deadly Letter to the President

A Mississippi man was arrested for putting a poison called ricin on his letter he wrote to the president. Ricin is a very deadly poison that this man put on the letter. When the letter first went through the check for this kind of stuff it was not detected. Thankfully someone noticed before it got to the president.
This could have really been a big deal if no one noticed the poison and the president instantly died. Thankfully nothing bad happened.
I believe this is awful that people think that they can get away with this kind if stuff.

CE #3 Boston Bombing

This past Monday during the Boston Marathon, someone set off two bombs close to the end of the race injuring about 180 people and killed 2. This tragic event has taken its toll on the country and kind of opened everyone's eyes to beware of this kind of activity. The US isn't as safe as it thinks it is and this event has really showed people that.
Many many people have pitched in to help raise money for the families of the injured and the whole country is really putting in an effort to help these people.
I think this was a very eye opening event for the States and I hope people are more cautious about these kinds of attacks now. No one has been officially been arrested for the event but the police have a suspect so hopefully we'll have updates soon.

New Pope in the Vatican

The new pope choose his name in honor of St. Francis of Assisi so his pope name is Pope Francis. There's no number after his name because he's the first pope to choose that name. His real name is Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio and he's from Argentina . 1.2 billion Catholics have been rejoicing since he was choosen. This is a huge historical event in the Catholic church.

So many Catholics are thrill to have a new pope in the vatican and this is a very historical and important event. Everyone is excited to see what the new pope has in store for us and hear and learn more about him as he leads our church.

I'm really glad the cardinals were able to make a fast decision on choosing him as our new leader. I can't wait to see what he does for our church in the future and I hope he lives up to all our expectations! I'm sure he will. Vive il Papa!

Bomb Squad to Moncrief Home
A woman called 911 at 3 AM because she saw a fire outside her house and she heard bullets off Rondo Ave early this morning. She later found bullets in her house. A neighbor said he heard nine shots before the woman called the police.
This is really scary because it's in the city I live in and it's scary that the bomb squad was needed to be called cause I could've exploded and died.
I'm sure the rest of the city was scared too.

Current Event #6

After being stuck out at sea after nearly week, passengers have finally disembarked early this morning. "it was horrible. Horrible." said one of the passengers onboard. She continued to say that the toliets were impossible to flush and there was sewage everywhere. I think this is awful, these people went out to have nice relaxing vacation and it ended up a nasty, stressful mess. Thank God they returned safely though.

Current Event #4

A young boy in elementary school was kidnapped while getting onto the bus at the buss stop by a gun man who shot the bus driver a few minutes before. The gun man had been building a underground bunker for about a year now at night time and that's where he's keeping the boy. No one knows where the bunker is yet but police and the FBI are working on the case. This is really scary because this could've happened to anyone, and the entire community is worrying for the boy. I really hpe the boy is found an returned safely to his parents.
